"Hilarious… Nicky Silver's deepest play." —NY Post
"Playwright Nicky Silver can make you laugh yourself into a hernia…" —USA Today
Everyone prays for the perfect mate. Paul met his at age six when he moved in across the street. Libby found hers at an AA meeting. Unfortunately, Taylor — the object of both their affections — is marrying Libby’s sister Cynthia. The Maiden’s Prayer concerns the inter-relationships of five complex individuals--siblings, life-long friends, spouses, new friends, ex-lovers--all in search of ideal love. Award-winning playwright Nicky Silver, famous for his hilarious quirkiness and rapid-fire dialogue, takes a funny, touching, ironic look at the difference between loving someone and needing them.
Mad Horse Theatre’s Associate Artistic Director Peter Brown directs the cast consisting of Mad Horse Theatre members Craig Bowden, Burke Brimmer, Elizabeth Chambers, Lisa Muller-Jones and guest artist David Timm. The design team for The Maiden’s Prayer includes company member Brent Askari (sound) and several guest artists: Stacey Koloski & Dave Seddon (scenery), Shannon Zura (lights), Kathryn Paterwic (costumes) and Nathan Speckman (stage manager).
