JOIN THE MAD HORSE THEATRE COMPANY BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The Mad Horse Theatre Company was originally founded and managed by the Company members - actors and production people. Today the Board of Directors consists of both Company members and outside directors. This provides a unique connection between the artistic and business sides of our organization. IDEA

In the Summer of 2020 Mad Horse leadership took a strong look inward to identify and challenge racist and inequitable practices that existed within the organization both artistically and organizationally. We recognize that this is an ongoing practice to unlearn harmful norms and to constantly make changes that welcome new voices and bodies to Mad Horse. One of the barriers to inclusion that we identified is the prevalence of finding new Board Members based on our current network.  To remedy this tendency, we have decided to have a formal application process to become a Board Member, which is open to anyone meeting the criteria for the position.

Role of Board Member

The Mad Horse Theatre Company was originally founded and managed by the Company members - actors and production people. Today the Board of Directors consists of both Company members and outside directors. This provides a unique connection between the artistic and business sides of our organization. The organization is led by a paid Company member co-leadership group, the Board chair, and a strong committee structure.

The Board of Directors works closely with Company leadership to oversee the fiscal health of the organization, participate in committee work (Audience Engagement, Grants & Fundraising, Building), and be overall promoters for the work being produced in the theater.
